Welcome to Rutland Remembers

Welcome to our website “Rutland Remembers”, launched today – 15 May 2014. This website though is for you. We want you to enjoy it, but we also want you to add to the living history that we have here. We have details of the 600 soldiers from Rutland and Oakham School who left the county to go off to fight in the First World War and never returned. Each one was someone with friends and family left behind and the aim of this website is to tell the stories of each of these men and women. You may know more than we have here – they may be your relatives, they may have lived along your street or even in the house you are living in now. We want to hear your stories and information. Please help us to make this the best and most fitting 21st century memorial to the men and women from Rutland to whom we owe a lot.
